Seaway 7, the Renewables & Heavy Lifting business unit within Subsea 7, is seeking to hire a Welding Engineer.

Seaway 7 provides project management, engineering, fabrication, heavy lifting, cable installation and decommissioning services for offshore energy infrastructure developments. Seaway 7 delivers these in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Installation), T&I (Transportation & Installation), BoP (balance of plant) and integrated services to our clients in the renewables and oil & gas industries.

Seaway 7 is comprised of two companies:
• Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) which manages and performs the transportation and heavy lifting of offshore structures.
• Seaway Offshore Cables (SOC) which manages and performs submarine cable installation, trenching activities and related IMR services.

Our HSEQ department is responsible for the coordination of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality related matters on corporate and project level and we are looking for an experienced Welding Engineer who can join our team.

The Welding Engineer contributes to all kinds of welding process related activities for projects, proposals, estimates, and/or work improvement programs. The Welding Engineer acts as a focal point for all welding process related questions and ensures maintenance of applicable welding information on codes and standards.

Key responsibilities
• Review, evaluate and monitor project related Welding documents (e.g. Welders, WPS, WPQ, NDE), including subcontractors project related documents/ requirements.
• Perform and record site visits to vessels, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Responsible for defining and setting up project related Welding and NDE Manuals.
• Initiate follow-ups and assure close-outs on non-conformities during welding activities and advise stakeholders on these matters.
• Ensure that Welding activities are performed to project requirements and are according to international standards and codes.
• Maintain all applicable welder qualifications to required standards.
• Responsible for company certification and maintenance for quality requirements for welding (e.g. EN ISO 3834-2, EN1090-2).
• Define, set up and improve work standards, procedures and templates in SHL’s Management System.
• Perform and record ITT (tendering) reviews.

• A relevant master or bachelor’s degree.
• IWT (international welding technologist) certified.
• At least three years of relevant working experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Good command of English.
• Willing to travel and go offshore.
• Able to work independently.
• Preferably IWE certified or willing to study for it.
